How do you create the black backgrounds?
To achieve captivating black backgrounds, having a suitable shelter is crucial. The type of shelter available at your stables can influence the range of poses we can do with your horse. Ideally, an American barn, an indoor arena, or a dark field shelter provides the best conditions as they offer more space for your horse to move around and pose. In these spaces, we'll utilize the entrance area and go through a diverse array of poses to capture stunning moments.
If these specific facilities aren't available at your stables, an alternative option is to use your horse's stable. However, it's important to ensure that direct sunlight doesn't shine into the stable during the photoshoot. If this is the case, capturing black backgrounds may not be feasible, and we might need to either use a different stable or make sure to schedule the session on a cloudy day to achieve smooth and even lighting. This ensures we create the perfect conditions for striking black background images.
My horse doesnt really stand still or put their ears forwards
If your horse tends to be a bit fidgety, no worries at all! With years of experience, I work swiftly and efficiently, ensuring that I've already captured the best shots by the time your horse makes a move.
And for the horses that aren't keen on putting their ears forward, there's no need to stress either. I come prepared with an array of props designed to engage and captivate your horse's attention, encouraging those ears to perk up. In the rare instance that your horse remains a bit camera-shy, I've got it covered during the editing process. I can skillfully bring those ears forward.
Do I need to bath my horse?
There's no need to give your horse a bath if you'd rather not. The editing process will work its magic, leaving your horse looking Shiny and fabulous without requiring a pre-photoshoot bath. However, it's essential to groom your horse and ensure they aren't overly muddy. While I can handle minor mud or stains through editing, it's best to keep it to a minimum for optimal results. Excessive mud might hinder the overall quality of the photos.
Black backgrounds bring elegance and sophistication to your horse, therefore making neutral coloured attire the perfect choice. My personal favorite approach is using my specialized photo halter, which gets expertly edited out to create the illusion that your horse isnt wearing anything in the final images.
For an equally stunning effect, you can also consider using a leather head collar or your horse's bridle. If you opt for the latter options, a pre-shoot cleaning is essential. Ensuring that the leather head collar or bridle is immaculate beforehand.
